Welcome to thinkPhD!
I recently completed my journey a PhD in Business Administration at Northcentral University in Arizona. Their online program worked well with my schedule and I have met so many great fellow learners to keep me motivated and encouraged.
I earned my B.S. degree in Environmental Science back in 1980 and my MBA in 1991. Both of those were in traditional brick-and-mortar (bnm) classrooms. I work full-time at a well-known paper company and part-time teaching business courses at a local university. I believe that earning my PhD will enhance my resume and make me more marketable. In addition, it is a personal goal to achieve a terminal degree.
While working on my MBA, I was raising my family. Now, they have all left home: one daughter works for a technology company and the other works stays busy as a mom. Our son works in healthcare finance. We have one grandson who is the apple of his granddaddy’s eye. Husband and I live in rural Virginia far from the lights of the city. We have two dogs, one cat, and lots of varmits (possums, coons, deer, bear, etc.) for company. I love the peace and solitude and the quiet of country living.
As if my life wasn’t busy enough, you can find me on AllExperts where I respond to questions about continuing education and distance learning. My goal is to encourage everyone to take John Dewey’s words to heart: “Education, therefore, is a process of living and not a preparation for future living.”
This blog has several purposes. One is to encourage myself and track my passage to a PhD, sort of like adding markers to a trail so that any who follow my steps can find an easier path. The other is to keep my eyes on my goal even when my busy life tries to distract me. This blog has also turned into a venue to share some advice and encouragement. I hope that you will find my journey interesting.

Cynthia J. Wolfe graduated from Troy University in Troy, AL, with an BS in Environmental Science, and later received an MBA from Troy University. She earned her PhD in Business Administration with a specialization in Management from Northcentral University in Prescott Valley, AZ. She is a member of the Academy of Management (AOM), the National Business Education Association (NBEA), Delta Pi Epsilon (National Honorary Professional Graduate Society of Business Education), and Delta Mu Delta Honor Society, Lambda Eta Chapter. She is a manager at an international packaging company and an instructor with the University of Phoenix, Richmond, VA, campus, where she teaches business and general studies.
